ABOUT PENDERECKI'S GARDEN

Memory Pendrecki is a sound prelude to the project Penderecki’s Garden and an invitation to follow the development of the website www.pendereckisgarden.pl. Penderecki’s Garden will premiere on the anniversary of the Maestro’s birth on 23 November 2020.

Penderecki’s Garden is an interactive, continually updated digital project inspired by the life and extraordinary legacy of one of the world’s most outstanding contemporary composers, Krzysztof Penderecki. Through it, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute wishes to pay tribute to the Professor’s memory. Gardening – one of Penderecki’s greatest passions – has been chosen as the leitmotif of this undertaking. By filling the garden with new music and other works inspired by the Polish composer’s oeuvre, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute is highlighting his importance for world culture and allowing internet users all over the globe to discover the legacy of Krzysztof Penderecki, his influence on artists in Poland and around the world, as well the the figure of a man who had a myriad different passions.

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is the cultural institute of the Republic of Poland which promotes Poland and Polish culture globally. Culture.pl provides information on the most exciting Polish cultural events worldwide; it is also the biggest and most comprehensive source of knowledge about Polish culture.

This project is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland as part of the multi-annual programme NIEPODLEGŁA 2017-2022.
